Concert for Heroes…Brilliant!
How things have changed? Six years ago, as the chairman of the British Forces Foundation, I called Jack Dee’s management and asked if Jack would do a show for the troops - “We don’t do anything for the British Armed Forces – no offence”. Well, when he walked on last night you could have knocked me down with a bandwagon. How wonderful that Jack, Addison and the team have now changed their minds and are, quite rightly, supporting our forces. Well done guys. I’m sure that our young soldiers are sick to death of seeing an old bugger like me.
Behind Enemy Lines…
The other evening, after a glass or two too many in The Ivy Club, I decided, in the interest of research for my new play Stand Up And Be Counted, to visit the Comedy Store in London. I haven’t been there very often but it was on my way back to the hotel, the traffic was horrendous, the tubes were on strike…and anyway, I fancied another pint!
